This infection can be caused by one of the 4 types of dengue virus; i.e. Den-1, Den-2, Den-3, or Den-4. Once someone is infected by one type, he or she would have a long term, even a life long, immunity to that specific type. However, it is still possible that person gets dengue from another type of dengue virus.
